Transcript Services

Can I get a copy of my diploma?

There are no copies made of the original diploma awarded at graduation. However, you may order a certified high school transcript from the Dubuque Community School District administrative office at 2300 Chaney Road (563/552-3000). The transcript will list all classes taken, all grades received, is stamped with your graduation date (if applicable), and is a legal document. A certified transcript is proof of high school attendance / graduation. Each transcript will carry a Dubuque Community School District seal and is considered a certified transcript.

Certified transcripts are available at no cost at the high school of last attendance for a period of approximately three week following the date of graduation or leaving the district. Following this timeframe student records are transferred to the District office on Chaney Road for image capture and permanent storage, and the fee structure below is in effect.

What is the charge for a certified copy of my transcript of grades?

There is a $7.00 fee for the first certified transcript and a $1.00 fee for each additional transcript obtained at the same time. This fee is subject to change by order of the Dubuque Community School District Board of Education.

Who may release my record?

The former student or parent/guardian must provide a written signature before a transcript may be ordered. It is for the former student’s convenience that the district will accept the parent/guardian written release, even when the former student is legally an adult.

Will a copy of my transcript of grades also have my ACT or SAT scores?

The Dubuque Community School District is not the official keeper of the ACT or SAT scores. In most cases, an ACT or SAT score will be electronically entered into the student record, and is then printed on the transcript of grades (not on the actual ACT sticker). If a college will not accept these scores as official, they need to be obtained directly from ACT or SAT. ACT may be reached at 319/337-1364 and SAT may be reached at 866/756-7346.

Can I just call and get my ACT or SAT scores, cumulative grade point average, or rank in class verbally?

ACT scores, SAT scores, grade point average nor rank in class are released without the written permission of the former student or parent. You may fax a written release to 563/552-3014 specifically granting permission to verbally release this information over the phone, then call 563/552-3000 and ask for Theresa or Cindy to obtain the requested information.

What information is released without my written permission?

The district will routinely provide confirmation of a former student’s name while attending school, date of birth, dates of attendance and date of graduation or departure from the Dubuque Community School District without written permission of the former student or parent, as this is considered directory information according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
