Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and Children’s Online Privacy Act (COPPA)

The Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and the Children’s Online Privacy Act (COPPA) are federal laws that protect children under the age of 13 when using the internet. As a result of these acts, the Dubuque Community Schools are required to notify and obtain consent from parents/guardians of children who are under the age of 13 that use the internet while at school for educational purposes. The consent form contains more specific information on websites that will be used. No child under the age of 13 will be allowed to access these sites without signed parent/guardian permission. Please contact your child’s teacher for further information regarding the educational purposes of these websites.
