Green Dot
Nobody has to do everything,
but everybody can do something.
That’s the philosophy behind the Green Dot violence prevention program in the Dubuque Community School District.
Think of it this way — the world is full of dots. Red dots are acts of violence or a choice to tolerate, justify or perpetuate violent acts. Green dots are behaviors, choices, words or attitudes that promote safety for everyone and communicate intolerance for sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and other acts of violence.
The Green Dot program empowers bystanders to make a difference and take steps to end violence.

Supported in part by a federal grant awarded by the Office of Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice, the Dubuque Community School District is the first in the nation to implement Green Dot in all of its high schools and middle schools.
We believe the Green Dot program will better equip students to be intolerant of violence and motivate them to act if they can safely prevent violence from happening.
