Conflict Mediation / Management

Conflict mediation and management is an active program within the Dubuque Community School District to assist students in resolving conflicts, disagreements and misunderstandings with peers.

Students are provided skills training in listening, empathy, perception and supporting students with “I” messages as they work through the steps of mediation.

The purpose of conflict management is to provide an improved school climate where students compromise and find grounds for mutual agreement. They commit to talking out their differences calmly, peacefully, and respectfully.
