Attendance Awareness
Up, Up and Attend!
Superman and kryptonite don’t go together.
Neither should kids and missing school.
That’s why this year the Dubuque Community School District, in partnership with the community’s Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, is focusing on the power of consistent school attendance.
Being at school every day helps little (and big) superheroes get smarter and achieve more.
In fact, making sure students miss less than 18 days of school each year significantly lowers their likelihood of being a high-school dropout. We know that students who attend today, succeed tomorrow.
What can you do to help? Start by pledging to be an attendance superhero!
- acknowledge that missing school is one of the biggest barriers to achievement
- share a positive message about how going to school every day leads to lifelong success
- set an example with routine and structure in my own life that supports school attendance
Don’t let missing school be our students’ nemesis. Be an attendance superhero.
Why Attendance? See for yourself.
Attend today. Succeed tomorrow. We know that attendance is a predictor of student success.
See why it’s important and what we are doing about it.
Be an attendance superhero. Watch our public service announcement and see how you can help
your little superhero maximize his or her powers!
Promotional materials for the campaign are funded by Every Child|Every Promise as part of the community’s Campaign for Grade-Level Reading.
