A Career Exploration Fair for high school students and their parents throughout the Tri-State area will be held from on Tuesday, January 6, from 5-7:30 p.m. in the new gymnasium at Hempstead High School.
Booths will be set up throughout the gymnasium in conjunction with the Hempstead vs. Senior basketball games being held in the school’s Moody Gymnasium. Students and families can visit the fair before the games, between games or at halftime.
The fair is an opportunity for students and parents to meet employers, learn about organizations and businesses in the area, and enter for a chance to win great raffle prizes.
Employers represented will include Unified Therapy Health Services, Dubuque Internal Medicine, Bodine Electric, Portzen Construction, Unison Solutions, Berry Plastics, Uelner Precision Tools & Dies, Dubuque Data Services, Finley Hospital, Northeast Iowa Community College, Conlon Construction, Southwest Technical College, and more.
The Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council, Dubuque Community School District, East Central Intergovernmental Association, Prosperity Eastern Iowa, and the Exploring Program are partnering to bring this event to the community.
PLUS: At the fair, learn more about Business After School – a new three-day event that creates experiential and work-based learning opportunities for students, educators and teachers in the high-demand job sectors of advanced manufacturing, engineering, healthcare, IT/computer science, and general business.
Business After School is a program of the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Dubuque Community School District, East Central Intergovernmental Association, Dubuque Area Labor Management and Northeast Iowa Community College.
